On November 27th, 2018, the Brazilian news agencies reported on what seemed unbelievable: an entire city was under siege by a group of 50 robbers armed with military-grade weapons. They terrorized the city of Bacabal for a period of four hours, shoot randomly at city buildings and burned cars. Their goal was a cargo of cash parked in one of the banks in the city, which was worth approximately thirty million dollars. After exploding most of the building where the money was stored they managed to escape taking all the cash. Several people were killed and wounded.
When this happened, our crusade director, together with his wife and baby, was in the city organizing one of our campaigns. He called me during the ordeal and I could hear the shots fired and the explosions on the background.
Despite the circumstances, we decided not to cancel the campaign and God gave us a true harvest of souls and miracles. The Bacabal campaign was a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ to a hurting people.
In this campaign, our team did 64 school outreaches, 12 village crusades, trained 1,500 believers, gave away 3 tons of food to the poor and we saw thousands saved at the main crusade!
The words in the Gospel of John were again fulfilled: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)
All glory goes to Jesus!
